Sip Stylishly at Municipal Bar in Savannah, Georgia
Mid-century modern design

For my birthday, Jeff took me to Municipal Bar at the new Municipal Grand hotel in Savannah, Georgia. The place exudes a stylish mid-century modern vibe, and as soon as we walked in, I felt like I was in a set piece from a classic film. The cocktail menu was diverse, but being a vodka lover, I found myself wishing for a few more vodka options—only one stood out: the delightful Espresso Martini. It was creamy, smooth, and perfect for an evening of celebration. Next time, I’m hoping to see something fruity that complements the charming atmosphere. With its inviting ambiance and social buzz, Municipal Bar is definitely a place I’d recommend for anyone looking to enjoy a chic night out in Savannah.

Heart of Savannah
Inside this striking mid-century modern structure—once a bank—Municipal Bar welcomes you like a stylized Southern living room. The sweeping crescent bar is framed by curved wood banquettes, plush poppy-pink chairs, and dramatic lighting, all beneath high ceilings that invite relaxed mingling and undeniably photogenic moments.
Here's what stands out—and what you shouldn't miss:
Design & Atmosphere: The mix of terrazzo tiles, retro-modern hues, and preserved architecture creates a stylish yet comfortable vibe—perfect for soaking in Savannah charm.
Cocktail Charm: Dive into their playful "cheekies"—mini banana daiquiris ($8) or espresso martini cheekies ($6)—perfect for sharing. You'll also find inventive larger cocktails, like a bright white Negroni garnished with pineapple or rum and mezcal concoctions ideal for Savannah's humidity. There's also a bold "Proper Martini Service" for two—classic and luxurious.
Drinks I Loved (and a request!): I savored an espresso martini from the cheekies—rich, smooth, and exactly what a vodka lover like me craves. That said, a menu expansion with a few more fruity vodka cocktails would hit the spot next time.
Dining & Brunch: Beyond cures for a dehydrated soul, the all-day menu dazzles—from seafood towers and croquettes to ricotta-and-maple French toast—vibrant, flavorful, and far from ordinary hotel fare.
Key Takeaways
Municipal Bar is an essential stop in Savannah—especially for lovers of design, cocktails, and a dash of birthday magic.
The espresso martini remains a standout among limited vodka offerings—definitely worth celebrating.
The space is versatile: stunning for solo sips, lively for groups, and even inviting for daytime brunch.
